What would you do....

.......if you won 96 million dollars? Or more!

This question comes to mind because that is what the Powerball is worth right now. Granted, I know I don't have much chance of winning it, especially since I don't usually buy a ticket, and if I did win, it would probably be the time that there are 10 winners. But the thought remains....what would I do with it?

IF.

The first thing that pops to mind is buy a car, and pay the insurance off for a couple of years. Not anything fancy mind you, just a nice reliable fuel efficient car to get me around, something with a big trunk or a small wagon so I can put lots of photography equipment in it :-D and it would have to be pretty good in snow too. Actually I think this would be nice! While I'm car shopping I think my daughter could use one also, and 1 year of insurance for it. So let's say I get the 2 vehicles and insurance for....ohhhh ...let's say 65 thousand...still leaves me a bit left.

Next thing on the list...a 2 family house. Again, nothing elaborate, a 2 bedroom on the 2nd floor for Tony, and a 4 bedroom on the 1st for me and Josh, need a guest room for Myles and a room for sewing or studio space. Also would need  a nice little yard and a garage of course for my new car. :-D Actually a walk out cellar or a nice out building would be great too,,for the photography studio you know.

Of course Sarita and Myles would need a home also. I'm thinking a nice little 4 bedroom with a finished basement, and also the yard and garage :-D

While I'm in the house buying mood...I think John (the ex) could use a small 2 bedroom cottage with some land to do his gardening on also.

Now being the frugal minded person that I am, I could probably buy all 3 homes for  less than the 3 mil I'm going to estimate here...in cash of course. No mortgages, paid in full. And oh. let's be wild here and say another couple million for furniture for everyone.

So for grins and giggles I went house shopping online..pretty sure folks would be happy with these choices, although Sarita might like a different area..

Sarita's:Mine:, who needs a 3 family, we could all live here and never see each other..LOL
OR this and fix it up! This is my kind of house! John:

Hmmmm...still about $70,000,000 left (figuring at least 2 mil for taxes?)

Ok, everyone has a car and a home...well Tony doesn't have a car, would probably get him one too when he gets his license and all...but until then...and because I'm feeling generous, how about putting a million in bank accounts for Sarita, John and Tony, setting up a million dollar trust fund for Myles and putting a couple of million away for Josh's care....just in case....oh and my brother John would definitely be getting a million added to his account also!

Wow, still 63 million bucks left!! Of course there would be at least another million and a half spent on clothes, paying off of bills, new glasses so I could see, some dentures and setting up the studio....and an anonymous gift or 2....but the rest?

The rest would be put into the bank..(at least 2/3 of it) .and 1/3 into the hands of a trustworthy investment company.

And that is all I would do with $96,000,000.00.

So what would YOU do with it if you were lucky enough to win it???

You'd lose about half of it to taxes. :P

a least half in the new bracket you'd be in - but one can dream right....plus no vacation home somewhere in the mountains or beachfront? Or booth? and I don't know where you live but new homes in what you're describing start at 5 million new construction w/o all the permits- fee etc so lets round that to 6 if you want a yard but hey the taxes are cheap in my town

Well, I was thinking a nice little place on the ocean would be nice to vacation in :-)
And I wouldn't get new homes, they have no character at all!
